He also ranks in the top ten in team history with 299 points and 168 assists. Remarkable durable, Couterier missed just ten games in the four seasons he played in Milwaukee, including the 1995-96 season when he played in all 82 contests. His 318 games played puts him 11th in team annals. “Cleary Sylvain was a great offensive player, but he was just as good in the defensive zone,” said former Admirals Coach and General Manager Phil Witliff. “He excelled at taking face-offs. Whenever we had a big faceoff in our own zone, late in the game Sly was the one I wanted out there.” In his first season in Milwaukee he quickly made his presence known as he finished second on the team in points (92) and third in goals (41) and assists (51). His high-scoring ability allowed him to finish the season with a +16 rating. Couterier was a vital member of the 1994-95 squad that made it to the Conference Finals, finishing that season third on the team with 72 points on 31 goals and 41 assists. The following year he finished second on the club with 85 points and was also second with 33 goals. After he left Milwaukee, Couturier finished his hockey career by playing four seasons in Germany. |
