Gord Stafford was a key offensive contributor whenever he was on the ice for the Admirals. He cemented himself in the Admirals record book as he ranks in the top 10 in most offensive categories. “Gordie was a complete hockey player. He could play on the power-play, he could kill penalties, and he was a great playmaker and a fantastic goal scorer," said former teammate Danny Lecours. "He always played very smart out on the ice and was an asset to our teams.” The Alberta native found his way to Milwaukee in 1980 after playing three seasons in the WHL. He had two stints with the Admirals, playing the ’80-81 campaign then left for a season and a half, but came back in 1982 and stayed here for the next five seasons. During his two stints he played in 355 games which ranks 7th all-time in team history. Stafford was a consistent playmaker when on the ice, averaging just under a point per game as he put up 350 points in his 355 contests. His 350 points places him 4th in Admirals history. His most productive offensive campaign came during the 1983-84 season when he set career highs for goals (36) and points (81). Stafford finished that season seventh on the Ads roster in scoring, which shows the type of offensive juggernaut that Milwaukee possessed during the early 1980s. His great on-ice vision and passing ability helped him rack up assists as well, as Stafford tallied 219 career helpers, good for 4th all-time in team history. In addition, Stafford had no problem taking control of the play and putting the puck in the back of the net himself as he scored 131 goals with Milwaukee, putting him 9th in team annuls. Stafford hung up his jersey after the 1986-87 season, but continued to live in the Milwaukee. He coached numerous local hockey teams, which included his son Drew, who now plays for the Buffalo Sabres.
