Congratulations to the Wausau West Boys Hockey Team, the 2011 WIAA State Champions. Coach Pete Susens has been the head coach at Wausau West for 33 years and built that program to elite status in the state. He became the winningest coach in WIAA history this season and now has his first state title in his 11th trip to Madison.
More congrats to the River Falls Co-op Girls Hockey Team that defeated Mosinee Co-op in FOUR OVERTIMES to win its third consecutive state championship.
Former Admirals and current Predators
Shea Weber and Blake Geoffrion were honored by the city of Nashville Wednesday. Weber was named Nashville’s Sports Person of the Year. (Attention…sarcasm on the way…) I’m kind of surprised middle-finger-extending Titans owner Bud Adams didn’t get the award (this concludes the sarcasm). Geoffrion was named the Amateur Male Athlete of the Year.
One final call...I'm going to shave my head on March 12th at the Brat Stop in Kenosha. Please donate. I'm proud to be part of the St. Baldrick's Foundation – a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization in the world except the U.S. government – more than $14 million in 2010 alone. Join us and Let's CONQUER! Look for me at
http://www.StBaldricks.org/.
I leave you with a
video from Huey Lewis & The News. See them March 19
th after the Admirals play Lake Erie at the Bradley Center. As Huey told me on "Milwaukee Admirals Center Ice" last Monday: The Heart of Rock 'n' Roll is Still Beating...
in Halifax!
