Wristing The Night Away

May 22

ESPN The Magazine has a very good article about the value of a wrist shot in its May 28 edition. According to the article, the wrister is the postseason's most useful weapon because of its efficiency, accuracy and versatility.

The shot is quicker to get off than a big slap shot. A player can control the direction better and you can turn the wrister into a fake or a pass rather easily.

Philadelphia’s Daniel Briere scored a playoff-high five goals on wrist shots before his team was eliminated.

Seeing this article got me thinking about the players with the best wrist shots that played for Milwaukee.

I’ll start with honorable mentions then close with my top five. I only counted players I saw in person. I graded not solely on speed, but accuracy and effectiveness.

Honorable Mention: Darren Haydar, Chris Mueller, Roman Josi, Robert Dietrich, Ryan Thang

5.         Kyle Wilson

4.         Mike Santorelli

3.         Janne Niskala

2.         Rich Peverley

1.         Cody Franson

Franson has a great wrist shot but an even better snap shot.
