Coaching Comparisons

Posted By: Aaron Sims

December 29

Here is a comparison of the Admirals this season under head coaches Kirk Muller and Ian Herbers.

This is a bit of an unfair comparison because the coaches have not coached against the same teams. Call-ups and injuries have something to do with the numbers, too, along with other factors.

That said, without further adieu, here are the numbers:

                                    Muller                                     Herbers

Record                        10-6-0-1                                  9-2-0-0

Goals For                    2.71 per game                          4.09 per game

Goals Against             2.65 per game                          2.45 per game

Shots For                    30.4 per game                          30.7 per game

Shots Against             26.1 per game                          29.7 per game

Power Play                  19.1%                                      22.7%

Penalty Kill                 81.1%                                      72.7%

Moving on…

Chris Mueller’s next point will be his 100th as an Admiral. Only 11 players have achieved that milestone since Milwaukee entered the AHL in 2001. His next goal will be his 50th as an Admiral. Again, only 11 players have reached that milestone with the Ads in the AHL.

Admirals forward Juuso Puustinen spent Christmas in Chicago. I asked him if Santa Claus was able to track him down since he has a new address this year. Juuso responded, “Santa is from Finland; Lapland, actually. He lives there with the reindeer. He always takes care of his fellow countrymen.”
