We are excited to get training camp underway this week. It seems like a long time ago that we saw our guys on the ice but come Wednesday morning they will be back out there again preparing the start of the season. While every team is optimistic this time of year, we believe that we are going to have a very deep squad that should mean that we are able to absorb player movement better this year. Hopefully both Nashville and Milwaukee will stay healthy this year so that the only player moves this season are based on merit more than injury necessity. If that’s the case I think we are both in for very good seasons.
We have a tradition of excellence here in Milwaukee which is due to Nashville’s philosophy on player development. We are the only team in the 74-year history of the AHL to post seven consecutive seasons of 40-or-more wins and 90-or-more points. Nashville believes in sending its players here to develop their games and not rush them to the NHL. This has lead to great consistency over the years as well as very solid NHL players like Shea Weber, Ryan Suter and Pekka Rinne.
I wish David Poile, Paul Fenton, Barry Trotz and the Predators the best of luck this season.
We’ll have two pre-season games this week including Saturday night at the Kern Center at MSOE against Chicago and then get after it for real on Saturday, October 9 at the Bradley Center against Abbotsford. I hope that you’ll join us.
