Yesterday we announced our initiatives for this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month events. This is a very important cause which affects millions of women, and some men, as well as their families and friends. It is a cause that needs not only our attention but our financial support as well.
Just in our own organization we have been affected by breast cancer numerous times. Whether it is the wife of one of our employees or a parent or a sibling, we’ve all come together to support each other to help battle this challenging disease.
A lot of progress has been made over the years to help combat breast cancer but until we have cures that help everyone afflicted with the disease there is work to do. The Admirals are honored this year to team up with Lee Jeans, a wonderful and loyal sponsor of our team for many years, in their National Denim Day fundraising events.
At our three games in October, you will see a variety of different outward signs of our support including the large pink ribbons emblazoned in the ice throughout the month. I remember the first time we did that a few years ago how impactful they were for people attending the games. We also will be selling pink autographed pucks at our game on October 15. You will have the chance to buy a bag with a puck inside it for just $10. Inside the bag will be a puck autographed by a random Admirals player. There will be a small handful of pucks that are not signed. If you are fortunate to get one of those you get to pick which player you want to sign the puck and then meet that player after the game.
We’ll also have special jerseys that we will wear at two of the games, and possibly all three, which will be auctioned off throughout the month to raise money for the Lee National Denim Day charities. Our players will sign the jerseys after the game on October 23 for the winner. We will also have one of the jerseys signed by the entire team that will be raffled off for just $20 a ticket. These raffle tickets will be available at all three games. What a neat item to win for just $20!!
We are very proud to serve this cause and hope to raise thousands of dollars to help rid our world of breast cancer. I thank you for your support in advance.
