Happy Birthday Aaron Sims!!
Yes, today is the 38th birthday of the best broadcaster in the American Hockey League. He shares his special day with such luminaries as former Admirals coach Curt Fraser (53), Howard Stern (57), boxing legend Joe Frazier (67), Kirstie Alley (60), Charles Perrault (383) who wrote Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and Tim Horton (81) who was not only a hockey player but also a donut mogul in Canada just to name a few. It is also Memorial Day in Turkmenistan January 12 – Memorial Day (honoring those who fell on January, 12 1881 defending the Geok Tepe fortress against the Russian troops).
Aaron has done a spectacular job of bringing Admirals hockey to the radio waves over the past six years. He really brings the excitement of the game every night. Aaron also does a phenomenal job hosting Admirals Center Ice with Mike Wojciechowski. I would put that hockey show up against any anywhere as the contacts that those two guys have make every week’s show must-listen radio.
In case you ever have a charitable organization looking for a speaker, I would wholeheartedly encourage you to reach out to Aaron. His wealth of stories and his knowledge of not only the Admirals but the entire world of hockey makes for a great speech.
Aaron is spending a good part of his birthday traveling to Winnipeg with the Admirals for games tomorrow and Saturday against Claude Noel and the Moose. If you have time, make sure that you read his latest blog too and maybe wish him a Happy Birthday!
We’re back home on Thursday, January 20 to take on Oklahoma and Friday, January 21 vs San Antonio. Let’s hope we can keep our home winning streak going!
