It’s a bittersweet day for me. Lane Lambert, our head coach, is heading to Nashville to join Barry Trotz’ staff with the Predators.
I am happy for Lane because he is one step closer to realizing a dream to be an NHL head coach. I truly believe this will happen down the road and when it does, the team that takes that opportunity to hire him will be making a great decision. Much like our players are trying to make it to Nashville, so is our coaching staff so I am glad that Lane is taking this step right now.
I am sad that he is leaving, however, because I have really enjoyed my time with Lane and his family. They are wonderful people. We’ve had lots of laughs together over the years and I will miss the day-to-day interaction with Lane, Andi, Samantha and Taylor.
What’s next? Well, we have had two great coaches here in Milwaukee since I’ve been here with Claude Noel and Lane. I trust Nashville to give us another top-flight coach to keep this development machine rolling in the right direction. I am sure that it will happen in due time and we’ll have a big announcement as to who the new leader is of our Milwaukee Admirals in the near future.
