Meet Marcel Goc, Nashville’s Newest Predator.
Nashville has signed the forward to a one-year, two-way contract. The 26 year old Goc spent the last 5 seasons with the San Jose Sharks organization, including 2 seasons with the AHL Cleveland Barons (which some Admirals fans may remember him from). Although he hasn’t posted good scoring numbers as of late, he was ranked 5th in the league for faceoff wins, winning an average of 58.2%. Goc is the highest drafted German-born player ever to play in the NHL, and isn’t in the only hockey player in the family. Marcel’s older brother, Sasha Goc, played 3 seasons in the NHL (now playing in the DEL), and his younger brother, Nikolei, is currently playing the German Elite League (DEL).
It remains to be seen whether we will see Goc in Milwaukee this season, as there is stiff competition for a center position in Nashville. I think we’ll either see him in Milwaukee or Cal O’Reilly back in an Ads uniform, but we’ll have to wait and see what the reports out of training camp say.
