Game one for the Nashville Predators is in the book, as the Preds won against the Dallas Stars 3-2 in a shoot out Saturday night in Dallas. Jason Arnott and Steve Sullivan each contributed goals during regulation, but former Admirals forward Mike Santorelli was the game’s hero, scoring the winning goal in the shootout. Also receiving honorable mentions is the Predators blue line, defensemen Dan Hamhuis, Shea Weber, and Ryan Suter. All 3 defensemen saw 27+ minutes of ice time, including Dan Hamhuis’ 5:16 shorthanded ice time. Dan Ellis was in net for Nashville, facing 40 shots (including 18 in the third period alone). On a side note, RW Jordin Tootoo is currently out with a groin injury. No time table has been set for his return.
Nashville doesn’t play again until Thursday night when they take on the Colorado Avalanche in Nashville. They round out the week with a home game vs. Buffalo Saturday night. Next week will be a true test of how resilient the squad is, as they play 4 games in just 6 days starting Monday at home vs. Edmonton.
