AHL Sets Division Alignment, Schedule Format

May 30, 2007

Milwaukee, WI— American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced that the league’s Board of Governors has approved the conference and division alignment as well as the schedule format for the 2007-08 season.

An all-time high of 29 teams will compete in the AHL during the 07-08 campaign. The Admirals, along with seven other teams, will comprise the Western Conference’s West Division. Familiar faces in the division include the Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, Iowa Stars, Peoria Rivermen, and San Antonio Rampage.

In addition, the Quad City Flames and the Rockford IceHogs will compete in the West in their first seasons in the AHL. The Flames will be the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames, while the IceHogs will host the top prospects of the Chicago Blackhawks. Milwaukee will play 60 of their 80 regular season contests against teams from their own division.

The Ads will play the Wolves and IceHogs ten times each, five at home and five on the road, and the other five teams in the division eight times. The Admirals will play 16 of their remaining 20 games against the North Division, including eight battles with the Grand Rapids Griffins, four with the Manitoba Moose and two against the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies.

The remaining four games of the season will see the Ads play a pair of foes from the Eastern Conference, the Manchester Monarchs and Providence Bruins, once at home and once on the road.

The complete 2007-08 AHL Schedule will be released later this summer.
