Greenberg Named AHL's Top Executive
Jun 29, 2007
Milwaukee, WI—American Hockey League President and CEO Dave Andrews announced today that Milwaukee Admirals team president Jon Greenberg has been named the winner of the James C. Hendy Award as the outstanding executive in the American Hockey League for 2006-07. Under Greenberg’s guidance the Admirals have increased attendance over 22% in the past two seasons. The club’s average attendance of 5,701 in 2006-07 was the highest they have had in six seasons and placed them 11th in the AHL in overall attendance. In addition, Greenberg has also seen the team double its corporate sponsorship sales in the past two years.
“Jon is a key reason why the Admirals are once again an important part of the Milwaukee sports landscape,” said Admirals Governor/CEO Harris Turer. “It is certainly clear that without Jon’s vision and leadership we would not have achieved the same level of success in such a short amount of time.”
Greenberg has also been instrumental in helping the Admirals establish some of the best game entertainment and promotions in the entire league and as a former public relations director for the Milwaukee Brewers he has helped to garner additional media attention in a busy sports market. In the fall of 2006 the Admirals were named the “Best Game in Town” by Milwaukee Magazine in their annual “Best of Milwaukee” issue.
The James C. Hendy Award is named for the late Jim Hendy, a Hockey Hall of Famer and long-time statistician and historian for the AHL who won four Calder Cups as general manager of the original Cleveland Barons.
