Ads Move Radio Play-by-Play
Jun 14, 2007
The Admirals are the first professional sports team to call WSSP home. The deal will feature all 80 of the Admirals regular season games as well as all Calder Cup Playoff contests both at 1250 AM and also on the internet at www.sportsradio1250.com. Aaron Sims enters his third season giving his description of the games as the team’s play-by-play broadcaster. In addition to the games the Ads will also have a weekly one hour radio show on the station beginning in October.
“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with Ryan and everyone at WSSP,” said Turer. “We look forward to continuing the recent success that we have had both on and off the ice in 2007-08.”
WSSP is Milwaukee’s home for local personalities Doug Russell, Mike Wickett, Steve “Sparky” Fifer, Cliff Saunders, Gary Ellerson, and Tim Allen as well as national talents Jim Rome and Bob Costas. The station also serves as Milwaukee’s outlet for select University of Wisconsin Basketball and Milwaukee Bucks games. Admirals’ contests are not the first hockey games that the station has carried, as they served as the Milwaukee affiliate for the University of Wisconsin Men’s Hockey Team last season.
"This is a great day for WSSP. All of us can't wait for the season to begin,” noted Maguire. “I want to thank Harris Turer and his staff for their cooperation in getting this partnership rolling. We're going to have a lot of fun as the Admirals skate towards the Calder Cup!"
