Aug 7, 2007
Milwaukee, WI--Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that the team will open their 2007-08 season on Saturday, October 6th at 7:00 pm in Peoria against the Rivermen. The team will open the home portion of their schedule on Friday, October 12th at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center against the Quad City Flames. The Admirals will play an 80-game, unbalanced schedule that will conclude over six months later when the team travels to Houston on April 13th. “The 2007-08 season promises to be another exciting year for us, both on and off the ice,” noted Greenberg, who begins his third season as the Ads President. “With all of the fun and entertaining promotions and an exciting team on the ice, we will continue to provide our fans with a fantastic experience when they visit the Bradley Center.” The Admirals will face a pair of new teams during their 2007-08 campaign, both of whom are in their own division: the Quad City Flames and the Rockford IceHogs. Both teams make the move to the AHL after competing in the UHL in recent years. The Flames will be the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames, while the IceHogs will develop talent for the Chicago Blackhawks. In addition the Admirals will face the Manchester Monarchs for the first time ever. February will be the busiest month of the season for the Admirals as the team will play 16 games, including a leap-year special February 29th contest against the Providence Bruins at the Bradley Center. Out of those 16 contests, half (8) will be at home and half will be on the road.
Home Schedule Under the guidance of first-year head Coach Lane Lambert, the Admirals will play 27 of their 40 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and they will do battle with 13 of the 28 other AHL teams at the Bradley Center this season. Milwaukee will once again compete in the West Division of the AHL’s Western Conference and they will play 30 of their 40 home games versus teams from the West. The Ads will play the Chicago Wolves and IceHogs ten times each, five at home and five on the road, and the other five teams in the division (Iowa Stars, Houston Aeros, Peoria Rivermen, Flames, and San Antonio Rampage) eight times. The Admirals will play 16 of their remaining 20 games against the North Division, including eight battles with the Grand Rapids Griffins, four with the Manitoba Moose and two against the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies. The remaining four games of the season will see the Ads play a pair of foes from the Eastern Conference, the Manchester Monarchs and Providence Bruins, once at home and once on the road. The Admirals will play 15 home contests on Fridays, the most of any day of the week. Sundays are the next most popular date with seven games at the Bradley Center, and the team will play five games on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The Ads longest homestand of the year will be six games from Thursday, March 6th to Friday, March 21st. However, they have just one other stretch when they will play more than three consecutive games on the Jane Bradley Pettit Rink: a four game span from January 18th to January 25th.
