Flames Burn Admirals in the Third
Nov 20, 2007
Milwaukee, WI—The Milwaukee Admirals jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but surrendered four third-period goals and fell 4-2 to the Quad City Flames Tuesday night at the Bradley Center. The game marked the third time in the last two weeks that the Admirals took a lead into the third period and came out on the losing end.
The game started well enough for the Admirals as John Vigilante scored the team’s sixth shorthanded marker of the season at 15:37 of the first to put the Ads up 1-0. After Cal O’Reilly put a shot on Quad City goaltender Brent Krahn, Vigilante was there to gobble up the rebound and slip the puck between the post and Krahn’s outstretched leg.
Milwaukee captain Alex Henry made it 2-0 with his first goal of the year just 1:34 into the second stanza. Mike Santorelli fired a pass to Henry in the right circle and he fired a slapper that beat Krahn up high. The Admirals would take that lead into the locker room with them after 40 minutes of play.
Krys Kolanos would get the Flames on the board at the 1:23 mark of the third on assists from Brandon Prust and Tim Ramholt. Quad City’s Grant Stevenson would then get the game-tying and game-winning goals with the former coming during a 5-on-3 advantage at 11:45 and the latter with just under five minutes to play in the game.
The Admirals pulled netminder Pekka Rinne in favor of an extra attacker, but Warren Peters stifled any hope of a Milwaukee comeback when he potted an empty-net goal with 15 seconds to go in the game.Kalonos finished with a goal and two assists to pace four separate Flames who had multi-point games. No Admiral player was able to record more than a point on the night.
The Admirals will now embark on a season-long five game road trip beginning on Friday night at 7:00 against the Houston Aeros. The Ads aren’t back to the Bradley Center until Sunday, December 2nd when they take on the Grand Rapids Griffins at 4:00 pm.
