Admirals Drop Fourth Straight

The Milwaukee Admirals lost its fourth straight game, dropping a 4-2 game Saturday night at Grand Rapids.
Goalie Maxime Daigneault made the start for the Admirals, just his fifth in 32 games. Daigneault stopped 26 of 29 shots.
Grand Rapids took the lead just 27 seconds into the game. The puck took a bad bounce behind the Milwaukee cage and bounced away from Daigneault. Jamie Tardif tapped it in for his eighth goal of the season and gave the Griffins a short-lived lead.
Milwaukee knotted the game when Antti Pihlstrom charged into the offensive zone against two Grand Rapids’ defenseman. The puck bounced into the right circle where former Griffins forward Josh Langfeld slapped the puck past goalie Jimmy Howard for his sixth of the season and third since returning to the lineup five games ago. Langfeld had missed 18 games with an injury. Pihlstrom and Alex Henry notched assists. The goal came at 10:04 of the first period.
Defenseman Cody Franson scored his fifth goal of the season at 12:54 of the first to give Milwaukee the lead. With Milwaukee on the power play, Cal O’Reilly passed the puck from the right corner to the right point where Alex Sulzer sent the pass to the left point. Franson’s slapshot beat Howard over his left glove. It was Franson’s fourth power play tally of the season. Sulzer and O’Reilly earned the assists.
Grand Rapids scored three goals in the third. First was a power play tally for Carl Corazzini at 2:31.
At 4:32, Daigneault kicked out a rebound that Brett Engelhardt tucked in for the eventual game winner.
Tardif scored an empty net goal with under a minute to play.
The Admirals travel to Rockford on Monday. Milwaukee’s next home game is Jan. 5 vs. Chicago.
