Milwaukee Stumbles in Chicago
Jan 2, 2008
The Milwaukee Admirals lost to the Chicago Wolves Wednesday at Allstate Arena, 4-1.
Chicago got on the board first when defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski fired a shot from the right point past Pekka Rinne for a power play tally at 3:21 of the first period. It was Kwiatkowski’s fourth power play goal in two games against the Ads.
The Admirals tied the game with a power play goal of its own at 13:17. Josh Langfeld, just back from parent club Nashville, slid a rebound of a Cal O’Reilly shot into the net for his seventh goal of the season and first on the power play. O’Reilly and Cody Franson assisted.
The Wolves reclaimed the lead when Jordan LaVallee fired a low wrist shot from the left circle past Rinne for his tenth goal of the season. LaVallee was able to work through a check by Franson at the Milwaukee blue line and get the shot off.
The Wolves took a 3-1 lead when Brett Sterling scored on a breakaway at 14:30 of the second. Rich Peverley won a faceoff in the Wolves zone that bounced to Franson. Franson couldn’t handle the bouncing puck and Sterling took off to get the goal.
Kevin Doell added an empty net goal for Chicago with 2:11 left in the game.
Rinne stopped 20 of 23 Chicago shots. Wolves’ goalie Ondrej Pavelec denied 25 of 26 from Milwaukee.
The Admirals play at Peoria Friday night at 7 p.m.
