The Milwaukee Admirals losing streak was extended to four games after losing at Chicago Saturday night, 3-1.
The losing streak ties the longest stretch of the season for Milwaukee. The team also lost four games in a row between December 22 and December 29.
Admirals’ nemesis Brett Sterling scored the first goal of the game at 12:44 of the first period. With Chicago on the power play, Alexandre Giroux made a strong move along the goal line from the right corner. His stuff attempt was thwarted by Milwaukee goalie Pekka Rinne, but Sterling was able to jam the puck into the net for his 24th goal of the season. The goal was Sterling’s third in five games against the Admirals this season.
The Wolves took a 2-0 lead with 3:41 left in the second period on a goal from Giroux. Chicago was able to hold the zone at the right point with all of the Milwaukee defenders in the vicinity. The puck came free to Darren Haydar who was able to find Giroux all alone in front of the Milwaukee net. Giroux’s backhander was good for his 17th goal of the season.
The Admirals finally got on the board at 9:57 of the third with a shorthanded goal from Jason Guerriero. Kelsey Wilson was able to get the puck in the left corner of the Wolves zone and made a pass to the blue line. Cody Franson’s slapshot was redirected by Guerriero for his fifth goal of the season and first shorthanded. Franson and Wilson notched assists.
