Shelton to Replace Aldean at FM106/Miller Lite Country Music Night
Feb 7, 2008
Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that country music star Blake Shelton will perform at the team’s annual FM106/Miller Lite Country Music Night on Friday, February 8th after the team’s 7:00 pm game with the Manitoba Moose. Shelton replaces Jason Aldean, who was originally scheduled to appear but had to cancel all of his weekend’s shows because of illness.
“We want to thank Blake for jumping in at the last second to make this year’s FM106/Miller Lite Country Music Night a reality,” said Greenberg. “We know that he will put on a spectacular show with all of his great hits.”
Just out of high school, Warner Bros. recording artist Blake Shelton left Oklahoma to move to Nashville. At only 16 years old, Shelton had received statewide attention when he won the Denbo Diamond Award, the top award for young Oklahoma entertainers. In Nashville, Shelton was able to get several songs published with Naomi Martin Music, Warner/Chappell Music, and Jerry Crutchfield Music. Shelton turned his songwriting into a successful recording in 2001 with his debut single, "Austin." The song eventually spent five weeks at number one.
"All Over Me" and "Ol' Red" followed into 2002, allowing “Austin” to go gold. Following the success of his debut album Shelton wasted no time recording a sophomore release. “The Dreamer” appeared in February 2003, hot on the heels of the Top Ten single "The Baby." A third album, Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill, was released in 2004, along with a DVD, Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill: A Video Collection. In 2007 he released his fourth album, the cleverly titled Pure BS on Warner.
The concert is free to attend with paid admission to the game. In addition, the first 5,000 fans through the gates will also receive an Admirals team autographed pennant, courtesy of Patrick Cudahy.
