Admirals Rally to Beat Wolves
Oct 3, 2008
Hoffman Estates, IL--Stephen Werner scored the game winning goal with just 12 seconds left in regulation to lead the Admirals to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Wolves in their pre-season opener Friday night at Hoffman Estates Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL.
Chicago got off to a quick start and raced to a 2-0 lead just 4:35 into the game on goals by Tomas Pospisil and Myles Stoesz. The Ads would get on the board at the 8:52 mark of the second when Matt Beaudoin fired a slap shot from the right circle that beat Wolves netminder Robert Gherson to make the score 2-1.
Spencer Machacek's tally at 13:08 of the second would give the Wolves and 3-1 lead after two periods of play.
The Admirals came out firing in the third, however, and tied the score at three with goals by defensemen Donny Grover and right wing Ian McKenzie just 3:10 into the final stanza. The score would remain knotted at three until Werner jammed home the rebound of a Geoff Peters shot.
Milwaukee and Chicago will finish their home-and-home pre-season schedule Saturday night at the Kern Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm and tickets are only $10.
