Milwaukee Drops Second Straight
Oct 17, 2008
The Milwaukee Admirals dropped its second game in a row, losing at Peoria Friday night, 3-1.
The loss spoiled the debut of Mark Dekanich. The rookie goaltender was sharp for the Admirals stopping 19 of 21.
The Rivermen scored the first two goals of the game in the second period. Nikolay Lemtyugov put Peoria on the board with a power play goal at 6:33. His slapshot from the right circle eluded Dekanich for his first of the season.
Peoria made it 2-0 when Lemtyugov drew three defenders toward him in front of the Admirals net before passing to a wide open Steve Regier on the left post for an easy goal, Regier’s third of the season.
Milwaukee finally got on the board at 17:42 of the third period when Antti Pihlstrom poked in a power play goal. Cal O’Reilly carried the puck from the right point to the right corner and fed a pass along the goal line to Pihlstrom. It was Pihlstrom’s second goal of the year and Milwaukee’s first power play goal in 19 tries. Mike Santorelli also notched a helper on the goal. The goal was also Milwaukee’s first since the 12:24 mark of the third period in San Antonio…a span of 125:18.
Peoria’s Chris Conner added an empty net goal at 19:06 to ice the win for the Rivermen.
Milwaukee opens the home schedule Saturday night against Rockford. Faceoff is at 7:30 p.m.
