Admirals Fall in OT Again
Jan 9, 2009
Joel Perrault scored the game-winner 16 seconds into overtime to lead the Rampage to a 2-1 win over Milwaukee Friday night in San Antonio.
Sean Sullivan’s pass from the right point found Perrault in the slot. His first shot was stopped but the rebound was planted behind Milwaukee goalie Mark Dekanich for the winner.
The Admirals got on the board first when Patric Hornqvist’s wrist shot hit the back of the net at 12:20 of the first. There was just one second remaining in the Admirals power play when Hornqvist converted Andreas Thuresson’s pass for his sixth goal of the season, fourth on the power play. Nick Spaling also notched an assist.
San Antonio tied the game in the third when Derek Nesbitt fired a slapshot past Dekanich from between the circles with just over six minutes to play.
Dekanich played well, stopping 27 shots. He entered the night ranked second in the league in GAA and fifth in save percentage. His counterpart, Josh Tordjman, stopped 22 shots for the win.
The San Antonio win was its first this season against Milwaukee. The Admirals dropped to 3-0-1-0 against the Rampage this year and 24-9-2-2 overall.
Milwaukee’s point puts the team eight points ahead of its nearest competitors, Iowa and Rockford. The Admirals own 52 points to 44 for the afore-mentioned teams. The Admirals have not had a regulation loss in the team’s last ten games (7-0-2-1).
The Admirals and Rampage return to battle Saturday night in San Antonio.
