Milwaukee Slows the Rampage
Jan 10, 2009
Goalie Drew MacIntyre stopped 33 shots and Kelsey Wilson scored the game winner to lead the Milwaukee Admirals over the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night, 3-1 at the AT&T Center.
Scott Ford got the Admirals on the board with a slapshot from the right point at 5:19 of the second period. Kelsey Wilson and Steve Werner did solid work on the right wing boards to keep the puck in Milwaukee’s possession. Werner dropped the puck to Ford at the right point and the defenseman’s slapshot got past goalie Josh Tordjman. It was Ford’s third goal of the season with assists to Werner and Wilson.
The Rampage tied the game with Jeff Hoggan’s power play goal at 7:36 of the second. Standing in front of the net, Hoggan tapped a David Spina pass into the net for his 17th goal of the year.
Wilson put the Admirals back on top with a clanging slapshot at 10:12 of the second period. Tim Ramholt controlled the puck on the left wing and passed it behind the Rampage net to Ryan Maki, then on to Cal O’Reilly. O’Reilly fed Wilson in the slot for the slapshot that clanged off a post into the net. It was Wilson’s seventh goal of the season. O’Reilly and Maki notched the helpers.
Hugh Jessiman scored Milwaukee’s third goal with a shot from the right post that eluded Tordjman. Jessiman’s sixth goal of the year was setup by Triston Grant and Nick Spaling.
The Admirals improved to 4-0-1-0 against the Rampage this season, 2-0-1-0 at San Antonio.
Milwaukee’s lead in the West Division remains eight points over second-place Rockford.
The Admirals travel to Winnipeg for games against the Manitoba Moose Tuesday and Wednesday. Milwaukee’s next home game is Jan. 18 vs. Quad City.
