Chicago Ends Milwaukee's Winning Streak

Feb 7, 2009

Chicago goalie Ondrej Pavelec outdueled Admirals netminder Drew MacIntyre as the Wolves beat Milwaukee at Allstate Arena Saturday night 2-1.

Pavelec stopped 23 of 24 in the game; MacIntyre turned aside 27 of 29 shots.

The loss ended Milwaukee’s four game win streak and dropped the Admirals record to 32-13-2-2.

Chicago got on the board first when an errant pass on a Milwaukee power play allowed Matt Anderson to score a shorthanded goal. Spencer Machacek intercepted a pass intended for the Admirals right point and moved it to center for Anderson. He skated into the Milwaukee zone on the left wing and fired a wristshot that clanged off the post into the net at 12:56 of the first.

The Wolves took a 2-0 lead at 12:04 of the second when Jordan LaVallee notched his 15th of the season. Arturs Kulda’s shot from the left point was wide left but it bounced off the boards behind MacIntyre right to LaVallee on the right post for the easy tap-in.

The Admirals got on the board just 19 seconds later. Cody Franson passed from the right point to Mark Matheson at the left. Matheson’s slapshot was deflected by James Sixsmith past Wolves goalie Ondrej Pavelec. It was Sixsmith’s first with Milwaukee this season, second in the AHL this year. Matheson and Franson notched the assists.
