Flames Tourch Admirals in OT
Feb 15, 2009
Milwaukee, WI— A slow paced, low scoring game led to a 2-1 overtime loss for the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday evening when they hosted the Quad City Flames at the Milwaukee Bradley Center
The only goal for Quad City during regulation came at 16:32 of the first from the tape of an Admirals player, as Jed Ortmeyer attempted to send the puck around the net in his defensive zone, only to unintentionally bank it off Milwaukee goaltender Mark Dekanich’s skate.
“It’s one of those things that can happen. That’s hockey and sometimes those things happened, and tonight it happened to us,” Admirals Head Coach Lane Lambert.
It wouldn’t be until the third period at 6:50 that they would eventually tie it, when a turnover led to Mike Santorelli taking it in all alone and dekeing Leland Irving out of position while sliding it in forehand at an odd angle.
In overtime, defenseman Tim Ramholt was called for a tripping minor which led to a 4 on 3 situation. Kris Chucko received a pass from Jamie Lundmark as they were working it around the zone, and then proceeded to sneak it right under Dekanich’s pads with just 2:32 left in the game.
“For whatever reason, we’re in a lull here and we’re not playing nearly as good as we were a few weeks ago. We have to figure it out as a group and stick together to find a way, because it just seems like our focus isn’t there for whatever reason,” added Lambert.
Mark Dekanich made 26 saves on the evening, while Leland Irving stopped a total of 21.
