Flames Burn Admirals
Apr 1, 2009
Quad City outshot Milwaukee 38-21 en route to a 3-1 win at the iWireless Center in Moline, IL Wednesday night.
Admirals goalie Mark Dekanich stopped 35 shots in the loss.
The Flames struck first when Cam Cunning knocked a rebound of an Anders Eriksson shot into the net at 6:52 of the first period. The goal was a 4-on-4 goal as Milwaukee’s Kelsey Wilson and the Flames Carsen Germyn were in the penalty box.
Quad City took a 2-0 lead when Germyn scored on the power play with 3:49 left in the second period. David Van der Gulik found Germyn atop the left circle for a slapshot that eluded Dekanich.
Milwaukee got on the board with 10:52 left in the third period. Quad City defenseman Brad Farynuk lost possession of the puck behind his net to the Admirals Oren Eizenman. Eizenman was tripped by Farynuk, but was able to make a pass to Ian McKenzie in the slot. McKenzie fired a quick shot into the net for his second goal of the season.
The Flames iced the game when Kris Chucko scored an empty net goal with 60 seconds to play.
Milwaukee finished the season series with the Flames with a 5-2-2-1 record.
