Milwaukee Snaps Two-Game Skid

Apr 4, 2009

Justin Taylor scored two goals and added an assist and Mark Dekanich stopped 31 shots to lead the Admirals to a 4-1 win at Rockford Saturday night.

The Admirals finished 6-3-0-1 against the IceHogs in 2008-09.

Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead when Taylor scored his first goal as an Admiral (third goal in the AHL this season). Taylor intercepted an IceHogs clearing attempt at the right point and skated to the net. He beat a Rockford defenseman and swooped in front of goalie Corey Crawford toward the left post before tucking the puck into the net. The goal was unassisted.

Rockford tied the game on the power play at 15:17 when Brian Connelly received a Tim Brent pass in the slot and put a shot past Dekanich for his first professional goal.

Milwaukee regained the 2-1 lead at 16:54 with a power play goal of its own. Nick Spaling won the faceoff in the left circle to Andreas Thuresson who fed defenseman Cody Franson. Franson skated to the middle of the blue line and snapped a shot through traffic past Crawford. It was Franson’s 11th goal of the season, 6th on the power play. Spaling and Thuresson recorded the assists.

Milwaukee made it 3-1 when Taylor found James Sixsmith at the right post for an easy tip past Crawford. It was Sixsmith’s third goal with Milwaukee this season, fifth in the AHL.

Taylor scored his second goal of the night, a 4-on-4 goal, when he won a faceoff in the right circle of the IceHogs zone. Russ Sinkewich sent the puck to the corner for Ryan Maki and Maki dropped a pass to Taylor, streaking to the net. His shot went through the legs of the goalie for his third point of the night. Maki and Sinkewich recorded the helpers.
