Blum Assigned to Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Jonathon Blum to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Blum recently finished his junior career as the Vancouver Giants’ (WHL) all-time leader in defensive scoring, in addition to ranking third overall on the franchise’s scoring list with 204 points (49g-155a) in 248 regular season games and 42 points (14g-28a) in 67 postseason contests from 2005-09. Nashville’s first choice (23rd overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft captained the Giants to their best season in club history in 2008-09, ranking third among WHL defensemen in points (66) and assists (50) despite missing 19 games. The 6-1, 177-pound blueliner also won the 2009 Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy given to the WHL’s defenseman of the year and was named a 2009 First-Team WHL Western Conference All-Star. He also leads WHL defensemen in 2009 postseason points going into the league finals with 18 (7g-11a) in 17 contests.
The Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., native is the first California-born and raised player to be selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft, and has represented the United States in the past two World Junior Championships, captaining the squad in 2009.
Blum will look to make his Admirals debut tonight when the team hosts Houston in game two of the West Division Finals at 7:00 pm.
