Admirals Pushed to Brink
May 7, 2009
Houston goalie Anton Khudobin stopped all 27 shots he saw to lead the Aeros to a 2-0 win over Milwaukee Thursday night.
With the win, the Aeros took a three-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series.
Milwaukee outshot the Aeros 12-2 in the third period but Khudobin, who celebrated his 23rd birthday Thursday, stopped all of them.
Houston's Benoit Pouliot scored the game-winner at 16:56 of the first period with a power play tally. Brandon Rogers shot from the right point went wide of goalie Drew MacIntyre to Marco Rosa. With MacIntyre sprawled on the ice, Rosa carried the puck around the Milwaukee net and fed Pouliot for the easy goal, his first of the playoffs.
Krys Kolanos scored his fifth goal of the playoffs into an empty net goal with 1.7 seconds to play.
MacIntyre stopped 12 of 13 shots. In the series, the Admirals have outshot the Aeros 118-73.
Game five, a must-win for Milwaukee, is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Houston.
