Admirals, Aeros Set for Game Seven

May 12, 2009

Milwaukee, WI– The Milwaukee Admirals will host the Houston Aeros in game seven of the West Division Finals on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. The winner of the game will advance to the Western Conference Finals and battle the Manitoba Moose.

The Admirals office (510 W. Kilbourn Ave) will open at 8:00 am on Wednesday morning for fans to get tickets to the game. In addition, tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, and by calling (800) 745-3000. Groups of ten or more still get a minimum of $2 off the price of each ticket. For more information on group tickets or to book a group fans should call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.

The game seven is the sixth in franchise history for the Admirals and it is the first time they have ever had one that did not take place in the first round. In their previous five game sevens, Milwaukee has posted a 2-3 record with a 2-1 mark on home ice. The last time the Admirals played a game seven resulted in a 4-1 win over Iowa in the 2006 West Division Semifinals at the Bradley Center. That win moved the Ads on to face Houston in the following round.

Milwaukee had trailed the Aeros three games to one before winning the last two contests by a combined 11-3 score, including a 7-0 win on Monday night in game six. A win in game seven would be the first time the Admirals had ever come back from a three-games-to-one deficit and they would be the 15th team in the AHL history to accomplish the feat. As a matter of fact, Milwaukee’s game five and six wins were just the 12th and 13th time, respectively, that the team had won a playoff game when facing elimination.

The Admirals currently have five players on their roster with game seven experience in the AHL. Drew MacIntyre (2006 North Division Finals with Grand Rapids), Triston Grant (2008 East Division Semifinals with Philadelphia), Jed Ortmeyer (2004 Eastern Conference Finals), and Hugh Jessiman (2007 Atlantic Division Finals) have all skated in a game seven in the Calder Cup Playoffs in their career.

MacIntyre continues to provide the backbone for the Admirals success. The veteran goaltender leads the AHL in the playoffs with a 1.41 goals against average and a .940 save percentage and has given up just one or fewer goals in seven of his ten starts. From an offensive perspective, Mike Santorelli leads the team in playoff scoring with ten points (5g-5a), while Ryan Jones, Cody Franson, Patric Hornqvist, Cal O’Reilly, Robert Dietrich, and Jed Ortmeyer have all notched seven points.
