The Milwaukee Admirals are looking for college students who are looking to gain experience in the sports industry. The Admirals have five different internships available for the 2011-12 season that begin in mid-September and continue through the end of the season. General Public Relations Internship:
Milwaukee Admirals interns receive a well-rounded, public relations internship that stresses both written and oral communication, as well as organizational and team work skills. Interns are unpaid and will work an average of 25-30 hours per week and are required to be in attendance at all home games. General hockey knowledge is helpful, but not necessary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: compiling and updating statistics, writing and editing team yearbook/media guide, writing press releases, updating team website and generating new content for the site, managing team action shots, assisting with media inquiries, fulfilling donation requests, representing the organization at various community festivals, and other duties as assigned. Students should be at least a sophomore in standing. Milwaukee Admirals Journalism Internship:
The Milwaukee Admirals Journalism intern will serve as a beat writer for the Milwaukee Admirals, and more specifically, for the team’s website: milwaukeeadmirals.com. The internship is unpaid and will be writing intensive. The intern will work an average of 25 -30 hours per week and is required to be in attendance at all home games. Strong writing skills are required and general hockey knowledge is preferred. General computer knowledge is also required. His/her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, writing game stories for each of the team’s home games, writing feature stories on different members of the team/organization, compiling a weekly notes package on the team, writing human interest stories for publication on the American Hockey League’s website: theahl.com, compiling and updating stats, assisting with media inquires, writing press releases, and other duties as assigned. Students should be at least a sophomore in standing. Ticket Sales Internship:
Milwaukee Admirals Ticket Sales Interns serve as an important member of the Admirals sales team, selling season ticket packages as well as group ticket packages. Interns are paid commission on any season ticket or group ticket package sold and will work an average of 30-35 hours per week and are required to be in attendance at all home games. An outgoing personality is necessary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: actively prospecting both new season ticket sales leads and new group sales leads, maintaining and servicing season ticket accounts acquired throughout the season, assisting the sales team with mass mailings to Season Ticket Holders, staffing the Information Table at games and maintaining and perpetuating an environment focused on quality customer service and maximized ticket sales. Game Day Operations/Lee Jeans Puck Patrol Internship
The Lee Jeans Puck Patrol is a game day position that helps facilitate the nuts and bolts of game operations. The Puck Patrol assists full and part time staff in giving fans the best experience possible while attending a Milwaukee Admirals. Duties include, but are not limited to: set up and clean up of promotional items, banners and other items needed, handing out of promotional items, selecting of contestants, on ice set up of promotions, inflatable slap shot game and assisting with autograph sessions. As a member of the Lee Jeans Puck Patrol you are not required to work every Admirals home game, but are expected to be available for about 25 of the 40 home games. Arrival for each game is typically three hours prior to the start of the game and you are expected to work through the end of the game. Candidates must be at least 17 years old. Candidates should be outgoing, reliable, organized, and possess good communication and customer service skills. Candidates interested in working in the sports field and working towards a degree in Marketing or Sports Management are ideal.
