O'Reilly, Franson Sent to Admirals

Milwaukee, WI— Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has assigned forward Cal O’Reilly and defenseman Cody Franson to the Milwaukee Admirals. In addition, the Admirals announced that they have released forwards Barret Ehgoetz, Matt Pierce and defenseman Brock Sheahan and reassigned forward Bryan Leitch to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
O’Reilly registered five points (3g-2a) in 11 games with the Predators during the 2008-09 season, the first NHL action of his career. The 6-0, 187-pound center spent the majority of his third professional season with the Admirals, tying for second in the league in assists (56) while ranking second on the Admirals and tied for 15th in the AHL in scoring (69). Nashville’s fourth choice, 150th overall (fifth round), in the 2005 Entry Draft, O’Reilly also played in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 26, 2009. O’Reilly finished either first or second in scoring for the Admirals in each of the last three seasons, including a career high 79 points during the 2007-08 season. In three plus years in Milwaukee he has produced 213 points on 47 goals and 166 assists in 227 career games.
Franson, who also played in last year’s AHL All-Star Classic, was third on the Admirals roster and first among the team’s blueliners with 52 points (11g-41a) in 76 games during the regular season and eight points (3g-5a) in 11 playoffs frays. Nashville’s third selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Franson was selected to the AHL’s All-Rookie Team in the 2007-08 campaign after leading league rookie defensemen in goals scored (11), assists (23), and points (34) in 69 games with the Admirals. In two seasons with the Ads, Franson has totaled 22 goals and 66 assists for 77 points, while playing in 152 contests.
Milwaukee will open the regular season on Saturday, October 3 in Chicago against the Wolves at 7:00 pm. After a six game road trip to start the year, the Ads will kick off the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 24 at 7:00 pm against the Manitoba Moose at the Bradley Center.
