Admirals Get Third Straight Win
Nov 24, 2009
Goalie Chet Pickard stopped 32 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a season-high third straight win in a 2-1 victory at San Antonio Tuesday night.
Pickard stopped all 13 shots in the third period. Milwaukee could muster just five in the third period. Pickard personally earned his third straight win.
Milwaukee’s Chris Mueller scored his first goal as an Admiral to give the team a 1-0 lead with 3:17 left in the first period. Nick Spaling tried to send a backhander to the net but it was blocked by a San Antonio defender. It caromed to the left post for Mueller to bury. Spaling and Robert Dietrich recorded the assists.
The Admirals took a 2-0 lead at 3:48 of the second period when Cal O’Reilly won a faceoff in the left circle of the Rampage zone. He shot the puck to the net where it was deflected back to him off defenseman Robbie Bina. O’Reilly then fed a pass to a wide open Dave Scatchard for his team-best sixth goal of the season.
The Rampage got on the board when Joel Perrault’s one-timer from the high slot beat Pickard at 12:52 of the second period.
The game was the 400th of Milwaukee captain Nolan Yonkman’s professional career.
The Admirals continue the eight game road trip Wednesday night against the Texas Stars. Milwaukee’s next home game is December 2 when the Peoria Rivermen come to the Bradley Center.
