Chet Pickard stopped 31 shots and three different players scored within a span of 3:40 in the third period to boost the Milwaukee Admirals past the Hamilton Bulldogs Tuesday at Copps Coliseum, 3-2.
Colin Wilson, Nolan Yonkman and Peter Olvecky all scored to give the Admirals the lead.
The game was the conclusion of a four-games-in-five-nights stretch for the Admirals.
David Desharnais’ goal at 9:37 of the first period gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Deharnais put in a rebound of a Mike Glumac shot.
Hamilton outshot the Admirals 14-3 in the second but neither team scored as Pickard stopped everything sent his way..
Milwaukee finally got on the board at 7:28 of the third period when Scott Ford’s slapshot from the right point was deflected past goalie Curtis Sanford by Wilson. It was Wilson’s second goal of the season. Ford and Chris Mueller recorded the assists.
Just 37 seconds later Peter Olvecky made a pass to the right wing that deflected to Yonkman at the right point. Yonkman’s cannon of a shot beat Sanford to the glove side for his first goal of the season. Olvecky and Andreas Thuresson were awarded the assists.
Milwaukee got the eventual game winner at 11:08 of the third when Olvecky deflected Cody Franson’s shot from the left point into the net for his seventh goal of the season. The goal was scored on Milwaukee’s only power play of the evening and was also assisted by Cal O’Reilly.
Former Admirals forward Mathieu Darche scored with 2:12 to play to make it 3-2 but Hamilton couldn’t get another one despite pulling Sanford with 42 seconds to play.
