Admirals Dropped by Bulldogs
Jan 3, 2010
The Hamilton Bulldogs scored three goals in the third period to defeat the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday at Copps Coliseum, 6-4.
Ryan White scored a power play goal at 2:21 of the third period, Greg Stewart tallied one at 11:03 and Ben Maxwell scored his second goal of the evening at 15:38 to ice the win.
The Admirals got on the board first when Ben Guite scored a shorthanded goal at 4:27 of the first period. Guite fired a shot under the left leg of Hamilton’s goalie Cedrick Desjardins for his fifth goal of the season, first shorthanded tally and just Milwaukee’s second shorthanded goal as a team.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 6:52 of the first when Stewart converted a rebound of an Andrew Conboy shot.
Milwaukee took the lead at 10:19 of the second when Reid Cashman’s wrister eluded Desjardins. Cashman’s first goal as an Admiral was assisted by Colin Wilson and Cal O’Reilly.
The Bulldogs tied the game just 30 seconds later when Ben Maxwell, standing at the crease, slammed in a pass from former Admirals forward Mathieu Darche.
Milwaukee reclaimed the advantage at 12:59 of the second when Wilson, left all alone to skate toward the goalie from the blue line, fired a snapshot over Desjardins’ left hand for his fourth goal of the season. O’Reilly and Chris Mueller picked up the helpers.
Hamilton tied the game again on Stewart’s second goal of the game. He caught a pass from behind the Milwaukee net and jammed the puck under Chet Pickard at 17:02 of the second period.
The Admirals, however, weren’t done scoring in the period. Captain Nolan Yonkman fired a one-timer from the left point past Desjardins at 18:21 of the period for his second goal of the season. Both of Yonkman’s goals have been at Hamilton this season. Wilson and Mark Matheson notched the assists.
