Dekanich turned aside 11 Moose shots in the third period and seven different Admirals recorded multi-point games.
The Admirals claimed a 2-0 lead at 14:02 of the first period as Jon Blum completed a beautiful passing play with Peter Olvecky. The two played catch with the puck as they entered the Moose zone. Blum fed Olvecky from the slot to the left wing. Olvecky carried to the bottom of the left circle before returning the puck to Blum for his fifth goal of the season. Reid Cashman also garnered an assist.
Chris Mueller gave the Admirals a 4-0 lead at 3:53 of the second period. Olvecky, stationed behind the Moose net, fed Mueller for the one-touch goal at the right post. Mueller’s sixth goal of the season, assisted by Olvecky and
Schneider was replaced in net by Rejean Beauchemin and he didn’t fare any better to start. Wacey Rabbit was able to score his seventh goal of the season after a fine catch of a fine pass from Cashman. Cashman, skating to the left point, sailed a pass to Rabbit on the right post. Rabbit knocked it out of mid-air toward Beauchemin. The Moose goalie made the initial save, but it trickled past his legs to the crease and Rabbit slapped the loose puck into the net.
The Admirals added two more in the third period. Olvecky, once again behind the Moose net, found
Hugh Jessiman scored his ninth goal of the season with assists to Rabbit and Mike Santorelli with 5:33 to play. Rabbit dumped the puck from the red line to the left corner in the Moose zone. Santorelli tracked it down and fed Rabbit in the slot. Rabbit drew the attention of the defense then slid a pass to Jessiman for the goal.
