Admirals Get 11 from Nashville

Milwaukee, WI–Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced tonight that the club has assigned forwards Gabriel Bourque, Ryan Flynn, Mark Santorelli and Ryan Thang; defensemen Jonathon Blum and Roman Josi; and goaltender Jeremy Smith to Milwaukee (AHL). The Predators also released forwards Chris Mueller and Mark Van Guilder, and defensemen Scott Ford and Scott Lehman from Professional Tryout Agreements (PTOs). Those four will report to the Admirals training camp, which opens Tuesday.
Santorelli, Thang, Blum, Mueller, Van Guilder, and Ford all spent significant time with the Admirals during the 2009-10 campaign.
Blum completed an impressive rookie year with Milwaukee last season, leading Admirals rookies in scoring with 41 points (11g-30a) to go with a +17 rating aand he was the only player to skate in all 80 regular season games. The Predators first round pick in 2007, Blum was second among all players in scoring during the playoffs with 8 points (1g-8a)
Playing in his second season with the Admirals, Santorelli more than tripled his offensive output from his rookie campaign. The Vancouver, BC native tallied 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 68 games with Milwaukee during the regular season and three points (1g-2a) in six post-season contests.
Thang joined the Admirals in March, following the completion of his senior season at the University of Notre Dame. The Edina, MN native played in 12 games with the Admirals and chipped in three goals and three assists.
Ford has played the last two seasons with the Admirals, accumulating 84 penalty minutes in 61 games to go along with a goal and seven assists in 2009-10. Since joining Milwaukee the Brown University alum has 18 points (5g-13a) and 212 PIMS in 124 contests.
In his first year with the Admirals, Chris Mueller saw action in 67 games during the 2009-10 regular season contributing 27 points (13g-14a) to the cause. Mueller also added five points (3g-2a) in the Ads seven game series against the Chicago Wolves in the playoffs.
Mark Van Guilder helped the Admiral’s ECHL affiliate the Cincinnati Cyclones capture the 2010 Kelly Cup by tallying 15 points (5g-10a) during the Cyclone’s playoff run. All of Mark’s contributions for the 2009-10 Admirals came by way of assist as he had seven for the Ads in 28 games.
Smith joined Van Guilder on the Cyclones championship team and was named co-playoff MVP after posting a 9-7 record with a .907 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average in the post-season. During the regular season he was 23-15-2 with a .899 goals against average and a 2.63 GAA in 42 games with Cincy and did not allow a goal in one game with the Admirals.
The Admirals will kick off the 2010-11 season by hosting the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
