Admirals to Conduct Straw Poll for Governor
Oct 19, 2010
Milwaukee, WI—Milwaukee Mayor and Wisconsin Gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett will be on hand at the Admirals game this Saturday night at 7:00 pm when the Ads and WisPolitics.com conduct a straw poll of the Wisconsin Governor’s race.
Barrett will participate in a ceremonial opening puck drop prior to the game, and he will also conduct interviews and greet fans and potential voters. Scott Walker is unable to attend, but will be represented by State Senator Ted Kanavas.
The first 3,500 fans to the game will receive a mask, courtesy of WisPolitics.com, with the portraits of Barrett on one side and Walker on the other. Then at a break in the action early in the third period the Admirals will ask all the fans to hold up their mask showing the face of their choice for Wisconsin’s next governor.
The Admirals will then use undisclosed, state-of-the-art technology to determine which candidate has the most people wearing his mask, declaring the winner of the poll. The poll, which takes place less ten days before the actual November 2 election, holds added importance given the proximity to the voting date.
While the methodology for this poll may be viewed as unconventional, it could revolutionize the political process for years to come, political insiders say.
Admirals Governor and CEO Harris Turer said, “As a governor myself I can fully appreciate the magnitude of an event like this and all the hard work that the candidates have put in this campaign season. We are anxious to put our state-of-the-art polling technology back to work after a two-year hiatus.”
