Grand Rapids, MI--Linus Klasen scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season and Blake Geoffrion recorded his first two professional assists to help Milwaukee past the Grand Rapids Griffins Friday night 3-2 at Van Andel Arena.
The win snapped a three game winless streak for Milwaukee.
Klasen’s game-winner was scored at 5:04 of the third with a quick wrist shot from the high slot. Geoffrion and Grant Lewis recorded the assists.
The game-winner came just 1:56 after the Griffins tied the game on a shorthanded goal by Jan Mursak.
Grand Rapids got on the board first at 6:34 of the opening period. With Milwaukee’s Geoffrion in the penalty box, Griffins center Cory Emmerton converted on a give-and-go with Ilari Filppula for his second goal of the season.
The lead was short-lived as Milwaukee equaled the score with a 5-on-3 power play goal at 9:47 of the first. Linus Klasen fed a perfect pass from the right corner through the crease to the newest Admiral, Jamie Lundmark. Lundmark buried the shot from the left post past goalie Joey MacDonald for his first goal of the season and as an Admiral. Klasen and Jon Blum recorded the assists.
Milwaukee took the lead with six minutes remaining in the first period when Andreas Thuresson’s long wrist shot from the blue line eluded MacDonald. Thuresson’s second of the year was assisted by Geoffrion and Teemu Laakso. The assist was Geoffrion’s first regular season professional point.
Admirals goalie Mark Dekanich stopped 24 shots in his first game since Oct. 10 at Peoria. Dekanich had been on recall to Nashville but didn’t appear in any games for the Predators.
