Milwaukee, WI–-The Admirals are in Grand Rapids tonight to take on the Griffins before returning home to the Bradley Center for a 7:00 pm game versus the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday night.
The Admirals pleased to welcome Wisconsin Gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett as well as Ted Kanavas, a State Senator from Brookfield who will represent Scott Walker’s campaign. The duo will participate in a ceremonial puck drop at the start of the game, conduct interviews on the ice during the intermissions, and mingle with fans/potential voters less then two weeks prior to the election.
The first 3,500 fans to the game will receive a mask, courtesy of WisPolitics.com, with the portraits of Barrett on one side and Walker on the other. Then at a break in the action early in the third period the Admirals will ask all the fans to hold up their mask showing the face of their choice for Wisconsin’s next governor.
The Admirals also conclude the “Hunt for Pink October,” an on-going campaign at all games this month to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. The funds raised will be donated to Lee National Denim Day. Since 1996, Lee National Denim Day® has raised nearly $80 million for the fight against breast cancer. Money raised supports the Woman’s Cancer Programs of Entertainment Industry Foundation and Cancer Support Communities.
The pink jerseys that the team has been wearing this month will be auctioned off via a silent auction that ends with five minutes to go in the second intermission on Saturday night. The auction takes place in the West Atrium of the Bradley Center and the winning bidders can meet the player after the game to pick up their jersey. However, fans unable to make it to the game can still bid online at milwaukeeadmirals.com until 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. The team is also raffling off one of the pink jerseys that is autographed by the entire team. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the auction for $20.
In addition to the pink jerseys, on Friday night the Admirals will again be selling pink pucks that are autographed by an Admirals player, plus 30 pucks are signed by Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman, who serves as the Lee National Denim Day celebrity spokesperson.
