Milwaukee, WI—Mark Santorelli scored a pair of power-play goals, while Jon Blum and Matt Halischuk each added two assists as the Milwaukee Admirals topped the Chicago Wolves 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center. The win for the Ads was the second straight and gave them five out of a possible six points in their three-game homestand. The team now embarks on a franchise record tying ten-game road trip.
After a pedestrian first period, the Admirals turned up the heat and dominated play in the second, outshooting the Wolves 15-4 in the frame and turning a 1-1 tie into a 3-1 lead on goals by Kelsey Wilson and Santorelli.
Wilson picked up the game-winner at 2:21 of the second with a wrister from the high slot that may have caught Chicago goalie Peter Mannino off guard. Admirals center Mark Van Guilder won the draw back to Blum, who had the puck at the point and ripped a slap shot, but since his stick broke on the shot the puck simply trickled over to Wilson.
Mark Santorelli earned his first of the game after Blum hit the left post with a shot and the puck deflected right to Santorelli who had an open net.
Santorelli got his second of the night and put the game away with another power-play marker at 13:29 of the third. With Patrick Rissmiller in the box for hooking, Roman Josi took a shot from the point that hit Halischuk and Santorelli was the first to get to the loose puck and dumped it over a prone Mannino.
Teemu Laako got the Admirals on the board first when he sent a low wrister that made it through traffic and beat Chicago netminder Peter Mannino five-hole at 9:10 of the opening stanza. Andreas Thuresson and Brett Palin recorded assists on the play.
Chicago tied the score on former Admiral Darren Haydar's seventh goal of the season. Haydar was stationed on the right post when he took a seeing-eye pass from Fredrik Pettersson that left Mark Dekanich out of position and made it an easy tap in for Haydar.
The Admirals posted a season-high 40 shots on goal during the game and Mark Dekanich continued his solid play, making 26 saves to earn his sixth win of the season.
