Admirals Drops Third Straight
Nov 21, 2010
The Milwaukee Admirals suffered its second consecutive regulation loss in dropping a 5-2 decision at Oklahoma City Sunday evening.
For the season it was the biggest margin of defeat for Milwaukee, the most goals allowed and the first time the team has lost two games in a row during regulation.
Colin McDonald put Oklahoma City on the board with a power play goal at 5:50 of the first period. McDonald, standing above the crease, redirected an Alexandre Giroux shot from the right circle into the net past netminder Jeremy Smith.
The Barons took a 2-0 lead when Ben Ondrus tipped a Matt Marquardt shot into the goal at 7:12 of the first. Ondrus scored his second goal of the game with another deflection at 17:05 of the first period.
Milwaukee finally got on the board at 18:16 of the first when Linus Klasen scored his team-best ninth goal of the season. Scott Ford’s shot from the left point deflected off Jamie Lundmark and Andreas Thuresson. The deflection by Thuresson put the puck just past goalie Jeff Deslauriers but not across the goal line. Klasen tapped it the rest of the way for the tally.
Two more special teams goals in the third put the game out of reach. Jeff Petry scored a shorthanded goal at 4:45 of the third and Teemu Hartikainen marked on the power play at 8:19.
Milwaukee’s Aaron Johnson scored his third goal of the season with a shot from the left point that changed direction over the right shoulder of Deslauriers at 19:14.
Smith stopped 24 shots for Milwaukee.
