Stars Outshine the Admirals

Jan 22, 2011

The Texas Stars extended the Milwaukee Admirals winless streak to three games with a 2-1 shootout win Saturday at the Cedar Park Center.

Goalie Jeremy Smith stopped 25 shots in the loss for the Admirals.

Linus Klasen scored the only goal in the shootout for the Admirals while Colton Sceviour and Raymond Sawada tallied in the shootout to give the Stars the victory.

Milwaukee tied the game with a power play goal just 20 seconds into the third period. Defenseman Roman Josi fired a shot into the net for his fourth goal of the season, second on the power play. Jon Blum and Klasen recorded the assists. Josi has recorded a goal in three straight games for Milwaukee.

Texas struck first when Greg Rallo banged a rebound into the net at 8:44 of the second period for his 13th goal of the season. Assists went to Sean Backman and Severin Blindenbacher.

The Admirals outshot the Stars 29-27 in the game.

Milwaukee earned a point in the standings. With 56 points, the Admirals are tied with Houston for first place in the West Division. Just three points separate the top seven teams in the division.

The Admirals return home Friday, January 28th to host the Peoria Rivermen at 7:00 pm, followed by a post-game concert by country music star Rodney Atkins.
