Heat Too Much for the Admirals

Jan 19, 2013

Abbotsford, BC--Goaltender Danny Taylor stopped 24 shots to lead the Abbotsford Heat past the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night in Abbotsford, 2-1.

The Heat outshot Milwaukee 27-25. The Admirals have been outshot in ten straight games. The Admirals are winless in the team’s last four games (0-2-1-1).

The Heat scored first when Max Reinhart and Krys Kolanos led a 2-on-1 into Milwaukee’s zone. Reinhart passed to Kolanos on the right wing and watched as Kolanos slid the puck into the net for his 10th goal of the season at 9:37 of the first period.

Abbotsford defenseman Brett Carson scored a power play goal with a slapshot through traffic to give the Heat a 2-0 lead at 10:49 of the second period. It proved to be the game-winner.

Milwaukee got on the board with 3:47 left in the second period on Kevin Henderson’s 10th goal of the season. Henderson gained the Heat line on the left wing and passed into the slot for Mark Van Guilder. Van Guilder’s shot was blocked to Henderson at the bottom of the left circle and he tapped it in for the tally. Van Guilder and Taylor Aronson recorded the assists.

The Ads and Heat meet again Sunday. Milwaukee returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center Wednesday to take on the Houston Aeros at 7:00 pm.
