Admirals Shutdown Wild
Nov 16, 2013
Des Moines, IA--Milwaukee Admirals goalie Scott Darling stopped all 32 shots he faced for his first AHL decision, a 1-0 shutout of the Iowa Wild Saturday night.
Darling, making just his second career AHL start, had to finish the game facing a lot of pressure. The Admirals had taken a penalty with 1:02 remaining and the Wild pulled their goalie, giving Iowa a 6-on-4 power play for the remainder of the contest.
Milwaukee used a fortunate bounce to get on the board at 17:39 of the first period. Joonas Jarvinen held the offensive zone at the left point after Iowa tried to clear. With a quick movement, Jarvinen sent a shot toward the net that bounced off Colton Sissons past Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper. The goal was credited to Sissons, his team-leading seventh of the season. Jarvinen recorded the lone assist.
The Admirals finished with 34 shots on goal.
