Win Streaks Snapped in Cleveland

Cleveland, OH--Goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 27 shots and David van der Gulik scored twice to lead the Lake Erie Monsters to a 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Tuesday night.
Pickard has stopped 91 of 94 (96.8%) Milwaukee shots in three appearances against the Admirals this season.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg. Hellberg stopped 31 shots in the loss.
Lake Erie struck first when David van der Gulik slapped a rebound of a Karl Stollery shot past Hellberg at 8:02 of the first period.
Milwaukee tied the game at 17:50 when Chris Mueller forced a turnover in the left wing corner. The puck bounced to Kevin Henderson then back to Mueller, who carried the puck to the slot and fired a shot past Pickard for his 18th goal of the season.
The Monsters took the lead on another power play goal by van der Gulik. He redirected a Cameron Gaunce shot past Hellberg at 5:26 of the third period.
Lake Erie’s Bill Thomas added a power play goal at 17:46 of the third period to ice the win.
The Admirals return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center Friday, Mar 1 against Grand Rapids.
