Admirals Fall to Barons
Goalie Richard Bachman stopped 32 shots to lead the Oklahoma City Barons to a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night in Oklahoma City, OK.
Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec, making his first appearance for Milwaukee since Nov. 3, stopped 23 shots but recorded his first AHL loss. His record is now 5-1-0 with the Admirals.
The Barons took a 1-0 lead at 16:26 of the first period when Will Acton’s shot from the left circle cleared the glove of Mazanec. The goal was Acton’s fifth of the season.
A power play tally at 17:56 of the first period gave the Barons a two-goal lead. Brad Hunt’s slapshot from the left point found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season, third on the power play.
The Admirals finally got on the board at 17:25 of the second period. Defenseman Scott Valentine made a pass from the left wing boards through the Oklahoma City slot to Colton Sissons at the right circle. Sissons fired a low wristshot to the net that was deflected over the glove of Barons goalie Bachman. The goal was Liambas’ second of the season and was assisted by Sissons and Valentine.
The Admirals will play in Oklahoma City again Sunday afternoon. The Admirals next home game will be against the Toronto Marlies Tues, Jan. 21 at 7:00 pm.
