Leipsic Added to AHL All-Star Roster
Milwaukee, WI—The American Hockey League announced today that Admirals forward Brendan Leipsic has been added to the Western Conference All-Star team for the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, set for this Sunday and Monday in Utica, NY.
Leipsic leads the Admirals in scoring and is third among AHL rookies with 29 points on four goals and 25 assists, while playing in 37 games. He leads all first year players in assists and is the team leader with 12 power-play assists. The Winnipeg, MB native has a club-best nine multi-point games and has tallied seven points, all assists, in his past five contests.
The Predators’ 3rd round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Leipsic finished a distinguished four-year junior career with the Portland Winterhawks where he amassed 302 points (132g-170a) and a +112 rating to go along with 346 PIMs in 261 regular season games. In 2013-14 he finished 12th in the WHL in points with 91 and in 2012-13 he was the co-recipient of the Bobby Clarke Award as the WHL scoring champion when he posted 120 points in just 68 games, while helping the Winterhawks reach the Memorial Cup Finals.
Leipsic and the Admirals will host the Utica Comets tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center at 7 pm.
Leipsic and goalie Magnus Hellberg will represent the Admirals at the All-Star Classic, which will be shown live on Time Warner Sports with the Skills Competition taking place at 7 pm CT on Sunday and the All-Star game at 6 pm CT on Monday night.
