Admirals Get Reigned On

Milwaukee, WI--The Admirals picked up goals from Emil Pettersson, Trevor Murphy, and Freddy Gaudreau but it wasn't enough as they lost to the Ontario Reign 4-3 on Saturday night at Panther Arena.

The loss for the Ads was their fourth in a row.

Milwaukee got off to an early lead when Emil Petterson found a seam in Ontario defense and fired a wrister past goalie Cal Petersen at 13:23 of the first period. The goal for Pettersson, who will represent the Admirals at the AHL-All Star Game this week in Utica, NY, was his ninth of the season.

After Ontario tied the game at one mid-way through the second period, Trevor Murphy ripped a hammer of a one-timer top-shelf to regain the Milwaukee lead with just under six minutes to play in the sandwich frame.

However, the Reign would score the next three goals, all in the 11 minutes of the third period to grab a commanding 4-2 advantage. Matt Luff scored the first just 26 into the final period and he goals followed by Jonny Brodzinski at 3:03 and Phillippe Malliet at the 10:52 mark.

Freddy Gaudreau got the Ads within a goal at 4-3 with 2:38 to play in the third. The play started when a shot from the blueline by Freddy Allard was stopped, but the rebound went to Mark Zengerle, who found a crashing Gaudreau and he had an open net for his fifth goal of the season.

Anders Lindback was pulled for the final 80 seconds and the Ads fired many chances at Petersen, but he was up for the task and the Reign came away with the victory.

The Admirals are now off for the next five days for the AHL All-Star Break. Their next game will be on the road in Chicago next Friday night at 7 pm, followed by a home contest on Saturday at 6 pm against the Manitoba Moose.
